#SpotlightonCLT: Animal Welfare

#SpotlightOnCLT is SHARE Charlotte’s monthly content series that highlights a different cause or mission each month. This series allows us to explore the crucial work being done around specific causes by our local nonprofit partners. It is one way that we shine a light on various nonprofits to educate the community and explore the given topic through the lens of the nonprofit community- breaking down who does what and how to get involved.

During the month of February we are leading the conversation around the Animal Welfare cause and highlighting our nonprofit and business partners who support this critical work . 

Our #SpotlightonCLT business partner for February is Boingo Graphics. Boingo  Graphics supports the Humane Society of Charlotte as well as other animal rescue organizations. Their partnership to support this spotlight was a natural fit and we’re eager to share with you the great community work they do.

Boingo Graphics is a state-of-the-art printing and  marketing services company – with a commitment to giving back to our community. In 2023 alone they have provided $65K in total giving to nonprofits such as the Humane Society, Second Harvest Food Bank, 24 Foundation, and Dress for Success Charlotte. Additionally, 165 nonprofits receive pricing benefits through their Boingo Cares Program.

We had a chance to chat with Linda Kirby, Executive Vice President of Boingo, on why Animal Welfare was particularly important to her and Boingo employees.

Why animals and which animal nonprofit do you support?

“We have a deep-rooted affinity for pets and for the Humane Society. This affinity dates back to more than 12 years ago (Linda was on the board of the Humane Society for 6 years). Initially it was just myself and my business partner who personally supported the Humane Society because we love our pets.  However, as we started to be more intentional about aligning the resources of Boingo with mission-centered partnerships, the Humane Society was a perfect fit!”

How has the whole Boingo team supported the Humane Society?

“We have always loved and allowed pets in the workplace. They are like family to us and as our support of the Humane Society increased, our employees really rallied around the mission. We formed a team called the Boingo Barkers and have enjoyed fundraising and participating in the event with the Humane Society’s annual fundraiser - Pet Palooza - coming up on April 6th.” (click here to learn more)

How does Boingo as a company give back to support the Humane Society and other nonprofits?

“As a company we are able to support nonprofits in several ways:

• In-kind printing services to several local nonprofits including the Humane Society of Charlotte.
• Attending events and fundraisers, individually and as Boingo team members.
• Supporting our employees to volunteer in their own personal passions.”
