#SpotlightOnCLT: Faith, Hope and Love
“And now these three remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love.” 1 Corinthians 13:13
Located in the historic home church of respected evangelist Billy Graham, Grace Covenant Church of Charlotte, Faith, Hope, and Love (FHL) has been faithfully serving the needs of the South End community for over a decade. FHL offers inner-city children and families the unique opportunity to acquire a strong work ethic, a sense of personal responsibility, and an attitude of service to others and to obtain grade level through intimate mentorship and tutoring from one of 95 volunteers.
FHL is a loving family for kids that may not have a support system at home. They not only provide one-on-one tutoring to help bring struggling children up to grade level, but FHL is also there when they need them, regardless of the ask or the time. They love the people they serve and consider it an honor to help them in whatever way they can. And they’re not just saying words, they mean it. I volunteered with them in July and while we there, Executive Director Kristy Davis left in the middle of the day to pick up one of their kids who just finished their EOGs. Love in action. That’s what FHL is.
Help expand their program by signing up to be a reading buddy to help children achieve grade level. They are also in need of tutors/mentors that will work one-on-one with the students' homework. Loving these kids goes beyond just academic help, it’s being present in the everyday lives of the kids that come through their doors and their parents. If that belief holds true for you, consider joining FHL to love on the children of Charlotte.
