#SpotlightOnCLT: Psychology For All
Our #SpotlightOnCLT Mental Health Month story focuses today on Psychology For All. We spoke with Carrie Reinhardt to learn more about how Psychology For All is making an impact on mental well being in Charlotte.
What would you like for the community to know about the challenges your organization is trying to solve?
Launched in the summer of 2015 by a team of mental health services providers and community leaders, passionate about improving the mental health of Charlotte’s residents, Psychology for All is dedicated to breaking down the barriers to mental health services.
Could you describe for our community how Psychology For All supports mental well being?
Psychology For All is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that exists to help open the door to emotional well-being by providing psychotherapy services for members of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg community who face various barriers to accessing the mental health care they need. We connect qualified adults with our diverse list of licensed local psychological service providers who have agreed to provide discounted services to help improve the mental health of our community.
Could you share an impactful story with us about Psychology For All?
We helped Maria*, a single mother of two who makes minimum wage and suffers from a serious medical condition, find the mental health support she needed in order to overcome her depression and build resiliency to weather life’s great challenges without compromising her family’s livelihood. During her participation in our program, she developed invaluable coping strategies and found the mental strength she needed to continue fighting for her physical and mental health. Without your help, Maria and her family would not have experienced the many positive benefits of emotional wellness, all which have far reaching impact in our community, including:
- Stability in employment and housing
-Positive family and social relationships
-Improved physical health
-Greater satisfaction with life
