United Way of Greater Charlotte & SHARE Charlotte Partnership - Strengthening Charlotte nonprofits

United Way of Greater Charlotte & SHARE Charlotte Partnership

Strengthening  Charlotte  nonprofits

United Way of Greater Charlotte uses collective giving to advance economic mobility and racial equity, primarily through neighborhood-based, grassroots and responsive solutions across Mecklenburg, Anson, Cabarrus and Union Counties.

Beginning in 2024, United Way is  partnering with SHARE Charlotte to provide complimentary SHARE SHINETM  memberships to 71 partner organizations across their Unite Charlotte and United Neighborhood initiatives. Both initiatives focus on nonprofit training and capacity building.

WHAT IS SHARE SHINE™?

SHARE Charlotte provides a more powerful way to connect nonprofits with volunteers and funders and continues to find ways to support nonprofits and meet their evolving needs. Committed to helping these organizations do the greatest possible good in our community, SHARE Charlotte created SHARE SHINE™ as an additional opportunity for nonprofit involvement.

Participating nonprofits are known as SHAREholders on account of investing in their own success as well as SHARE Charlotte. An affordable annual fee of $250 per year, per organization provides SHAREholders with exclusive access to SHARE’s most valued programs, expertise, and services while sustaining SHARE’s ability to support nonprofits at the highest level.

Our 2024 SHARE SHINE™ Programming includes:

  • Monthly SHARE-a-Lattes which are our networking coffees that bring together our nonprofit partners to meet each other and influential Charlotteans. We invite a “special guest” - local funders, community leaders, elected officials as a way for our partners to gain access to increased social capital in Charlotte .
  • Professional Development Opportunities which include workshops focused on topics such as marketing, fundraising, etc.
  • Do Good Work Job Board the community’s top resource to post or find a job in the nonprofit sector.
  • Charlotte-Mecklenburg Funder List which is a list of 70+ local funders and their funding priorities.

Additionally, United Way is providing access to SHARE SHINETM 2.0 which is a quarterly workshop series focused on Board Development and Engagement. According to a recent Nonprofit Leader Survey conducted by SHARE Charlotte in collaboration with the Charlotte Executive Leadership Council (CELC), Board Engagement and Development is one of the top three challenges for nonprofit leaders

We are thrilled to partner with the United Way of Greater Charlotte in this more intentional way. They are such a leader in innovation in our community by investing in grassroots nonprofits to find collaborative solutions to our city’s most pressing challenges. Most of these organizations are already part of the SHARE Charlotte platform but to be able to provide them with access to increase their network and leadership skills is such a gift!” - Melissa Hovey, Managing Director of SHARE Charlotte

Our nonprofit community is hard at work each and every day to serve the needs of our residents. United Way is proud to partner with SHARE Charlotte to provide additional resources like professional development, opportunities to recruit volunteers and more to our nonprofit partners through SHARE SHINE™.” Laura Yates Clark, President & CEO of United Way of Greater Charlotte
