#52Tuesdays: Skillpop Gives GOOD to Classroom Central
Education doesn’t stop after grade school or college.
Both local nonprofit, Classroom Central, and Charlotte based business, Skillpop, share a particular passion for lifelong learning. This mutual passion for education gave way to a collaboration for GOOD during this past #GivingTuesdayCLT.
Skillpop provides pop-up classes around Charlotte that make learning a new skill social, accessible, and engaging. From learning how to paint abstract floral artwork to the basics of buying a home, Skillpop provides introductory courses that teach you valuable skills while encouraging you to meeting new people in the community.
Classroom Central is a nonprofit that provides free supplies to Charlotte students in need. They have worked with Skillpop many times in the last two years, and decided to further their collaboration this Giving Tuesday by creating Take a Class Tuesday.
This Giving Tuesday, SkillPop supported Classroom Central by donating 10% of all sales on Take a Class Tuesday including Charlotte classes for that week AND future weeks, plus classes in other cities and gift cards! This lead to a $400 donation to Classroom Central which they used to restock their shelves with free school supplies for local teachers and students.
Greg Meitus, Director of Marketing and Communications at Classroom Central, says that he appreciates the partnership with Skillpop and the various ways Skillpop has supported their mission to empower teachers and students in Charlotte.
Hayley Bohon, Founder of Skillpop, echoes this sentiment and says that Skillpop tries to work with Classroom Central for a large part of their local charitable giving since their values align as education organizations.
At SHARE Charlotte we love seeing our nonprofit partners find authentic means of collaboration through shared missions. This is just one example of a relationship that will transcend Giving Tuesday and continue to benefit both the education and nonprofit communities in Charlotte.
If you want to get involved with Classroom Central, they have many different volunteer opportunities on their SHARE Profile, including opportunities for families and students!
