Meet International House
Meet International House
At SHARE Charlotte, we want to build a better community by empowering nonprofits and by helping people give back in ways that matter most to them. Meet International House for our latest nonprofit feature! We got a chance to sit down with International House to chat about what they do and what events they have coming up!
We immediately wanted to go visit International House to feel the love and joy they have and are sharing with Charlotteans who are new to the area, many who have come from very far away. And...attend an event with international food, dancing, and art??!! Yes please! We'll see you there!
Read on below to see how you can support this incredible organization!
Share with us, if you will, why International House is excited to be a part of SHARE Charlotte?
International House is excited to be featured through SHARE Charlotte because like your readers, we are impacting our community every day. We want to invite the SHARE Community to learn more about the work we do and get involved if our mission resonates with you.
What would like Charlotte to know about you, including your upcoming Tapas and Testimonials event!
International House has been part of the Charlotte community for 43 years! Neighbors have been serving neighbors who resettle in Charlotte from around the globe through English classes, diplomacy exchanges, a legal clinic, cultural clubs and community groups.
You can learn more at our Tapas and Testimonials event being held on September 20 at the Revelry from 6 pm – 9 pm. At this fun and engaging event, you will hear a testimonial from a member of our foreign-born community, enjoy internationally themed tapas, beer and wine all while be entertained by a Ugandan musician and lion dancers.
If someone were to volunteer with International House, what would that look like and what kind of impact does that have on your organization?
Volunteers make a difference at International House every day! Whether you want to read to youth, teach English to adults, help someone prepare for the Naturalization exam and interview, or facilitate a cultural club, we are happy to help you find a meaningful volunteer opportunity.
How can Charlotteans find you, apply, get help, or support you? What is it that you need most, now?
- The easiest way for Charlotteans to find us and learn more about our services is by visiting our website at https://www.ihclt.org/
- The best way to support International House is to become a sustaining donor and you can learn more about that here. We have Mission Tours each month that you’re invited to. Please join us to learn more about how we support immigrants and international culture in Charlotte. When we help immigrants, we help Charlotte.
International House stories of impact:
Bob Caruso, a long time International House volunteer shared, "I will always remember...the smiles on beginner students' faces when they got the meaning of an English expression...the gratitude from intermediate students who just looked over their very first resume...and the joy of Spanish learners engaged in animated dialogs with classmates..."
