Behind the Red Vest
Recognize these red vests? The red vests are symbols of the helpful faces at Lowe’s that help make your home and garden beautiful. However, the red vest also represents so much more! Lowe’s has a long history of generously providing support to local nonprofits in their hometown of Charlotte, helping to create a stronger community for everyone.
For the past four years, SHARE Charlotte and Lowe’s have partnered together on #GivingTuesdayCLT. #GivingTuesdayCLT is the local celebration of Giving Tuesday, the global day of giving, inspiring our community to find and give to local nonprofits. Since 2018, over $15.5M has been raised on this single day of giving in Charlotte!
To enhance and challenge giving, Lowe’s is providing three hundred $50 gift cards to be used as a match for any $50 or more online donation given to a nonprofit on #GivingTuesdayCLT through sharecharlotte.org.
The $60K in gift card matches over the past four years have allowed local nonprofits to purchase critical items from Lowe’s that have helped their organizations with projects such as:
- Repairing the Raptor Trail at the Carolina Raptor Center which displays over 30 different species of raptors in Latta Nature Preserve.
- Building garden beds at Anne Springs Close Greenway which is a 2,100-acre natural area preserved for outdoor recreation and native wildlife.
- Purchasing tools for the Charlotte Tool Bank which is a nonprofit tool-lending program that provides low-cost access to an inventory of tools so organizations don’t have to incur the expense of tools.
