Environmental Summit with SHARE Charlotte
Environmental Summit Recap
Charlotte is filled with beautiful trees, lakes and wildlife and we have amazing nonprofit organizations that work tirelessly to protect these resources for our community and its citizens.
As Charlotte continues to grow the collaboration between corporations and nonprofits will become critical to growing in a sustainable way that will allow for the growth as well as protect and preserve our natural resources.
The first Environmental Summit held on March 13, 2024 provided an opportunity for corporate ESG and Foundation leaders to meet Environmental and Conservation nonprofit leaders for a day of networking, learning, and ideating on opportunities. All to create a larger Environmental Ethos for Charlotte.
We are grateful to our presenting partners, Wells Fargo and Albemarle who supported this effort and to the corporate, foundation and ESG representatives from an array of companies including:
- Duke Energy, Barings, AvidXchange, Crescent Communities, The Weisiger Group, Trane Technologies, Bank of America, Atrium Health, The Bissell Ballantyne Legacy Foundation and The Foundation for the Carolinas.
The highlights from the day included:
- Speed Networking session - where attendees had the opportunity to meet our nonprofit leaders and hear about their investment and community priorities.
- Ideation Breakout Session - that required paired groups to collaboratively solve an ESG challenge that required community involvement and funding to execute, including metrics to measure the impact to the environment/climate and community.
- Spotlight on Collaborations - presentations from Crescent Communities and Catawba Lands Conservancy on the River District Project and Albemarle on their Kings Mountain Project which both required private-public partnership to achieve their sustainability and conservation goals.
We are immensely grateful to our nonprofit leaders who attended including:
- Catawba Riverkeeper
- Catawba Lands Conservancy & Carolina Thread Trail
- Sustain Charlotte
- CleanAIRE NC
- TreesCharlotte
- Carolina Raptor Center
- North Carolina Wildlife Federation
- Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden
- Anne Springs Close Greenway
