Celebrating 6 years of partnership to inspire generosity on #GivingTuesdayCLT
We are thrilled to celebrate our 6th year of partnership with Lowe’s to inspire generosity in our joint hometown of Charlotte on Giving Tuesday! For the past five years, SHARE Charlotte and Lowe’s have teamed on #GivingTuesdayCLT, which is the local celebration of Giving Tuesday, the global day of giving.
This special day, which is always celebrated on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, kicks off the season of giving with a special day designated to giving back to local nonprofits. This day has grown into a global movement inspiring millions of people to give, collaborate and celebrate each year. Last year yielded $3.1B in giving in the United States on a single Tuesday.
Here locally, #GivingTuesdayCLT, now in its 10th year, is an unprecedented collaboration of hundreds of Charlotte nonprofits as well as corporations, local businesses, community organizations and individuals coming together through good. We are excited to announce that over these last 10 years, over $40M has been given to local nonprofits in Mecklenburg County!
Lowe’s will once again partner to help inspire giving on Tuesday, Nov. 28, by matching up to 300 online donations of $50 or more with a $50 gift card to the nonprofit. #GivingTuesdayCLT donations came through sharecharlotte.org.
Over the years, Lowe’s has provided $102K in gift card matches, which has doubled the impact to local nonprofits. These gift cards have allowed local nonprofits to purchase critical items from Lowe’s that have helped their organizations such as:
â—Ź Making much needed theater repairs at Three Bone Theatre who provides adult contemporary theater to become a catalyst for conversation and change in our community.
â—Ź Repairing the Raptor Trail at the Carolina Raptor Center which displays over 30 different species of raptors in Latta Nature Preserve.
â—Ź Building garden beds at Anne Springs Close Greenway which is a 2,100-acre natural area preserved for outdoor recreation and native wildlife.
● Purchasing tools for the Charlotte ToolBank which is a nonprofit tool-lending program that provides low-cost access to an inventory of tools so organizations don’t have to incur the expense of tools.
