Unleashing Generosity with Lowe's

We're thrilled to mark seven years of partnership with Lowe’s to Unleash Generosity right here in our shared hometown of Charlotte! For the past six years, SHARE Charlotte and Lowe’s have joined forces for #GivingTuesdayCLT, Charlotte's local celebration of Giving Tuesday - the global movement dedicated to spreading generosity. Don’t miss it tomorrow, Dec. 3!

Giving Tuesday, celebrated on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, kicks off the season of giving with a special day designated to giving back to local nonprofits. The impactful day launched in New York City in 2012 and has grown into a global movement inspiring millions of people to give, collaborate and celebrate each year. Last year yielded $3.1 billion in giving in the United States on a single Tuesday.

Here locally, GivingTuesdayCLT, now in its 11th year, is an unprecedented collaboration of hundreds of Charlotte nonprofits, corporations, local businesses, community organizations and individuals coming together for good. We are excited to announce that over these last 10 years, over $46 million has been given to local nonprofits in Mecklenburg County!

Lowe’s will once again partner to help inspire giving on Tuesday, Dec. 3, by matching up to 300 online donations of $50 or more, made through sharecharlotte.org, with gift cards to the nonprofit.

Over the past six years, Lowe’s has provided $130,000 in gift cards, which has multiplied the impact of Giving Tuesday for local nonprofits. These gift cards have allowed organizations to purchase critical items that have helped to:

  • Provide plants to beautify the grounds at Champion House of Care, which provides support to unsheltered children and families in the Sugar Creek corridor.

  • Repair the Raptor Trail at the Carolina Raptor Center, which displays over 30 species of raptors in Latta Nature Preserve.

  • Build garden beds at Anne Springs Close Greenway, a 2,100-acre natural area preserved for outdoor recreation and native wildlife.

  • Purchase tools for the Charlotte ToolBank, a nonprofit tool-lending program that provides low-cost access to an inventory of tools for nonprofit organizations.

“Lowe’s deep commitment to our nonprofit partners and their success goes way beyond a check or a logo. Their associates care deeply about our community, the challenges we face and want to be part of the solution. We are honored to have had such a lasting partnership to inspire Charlotteans to join in on this global day of giving to honor a nonprofit with a gift of any kind.”  -  Melissa Hovey, Managing Director at SHARE Charlotte
